Abstract. The article presents the integration mechanisms of higher education graduates in the socialist economic units. The Buchrest „23 August” factory case study is based especially on the files of the Securitate and on those of the economic section of the Central Committee of Romanian Communist Party. It also outlines the practical difficulties faced by the various groups of higher education graduates – engineers, economical staff, graduates of human sciences – as well as their efficiency inside the communist industrial framework. The study combines the description and the analysis of the numerical allocation and the higher education workforce responsibilities and work results.
